How to choose from Denver nail salons and Lakewood

Choosing from nail salons Lakewood CO and Denver

With so many options for nail salons around Denver and Lakewood, where should you go? Often, we search Google, and it will auto fill with the questions “nail salons near me” There is nothing wrong with this but finding the right nail salon often takes a little more looking into than what is closest to you.

Asking the right questions about salons is important. You don’t want to make a mistake with the salon you choose. Acting at random, can often lead to poor quality nails and can outright be dangerous. Throwing the word “dangerous” when discussing getting your nails done seems a bit extreme but we will discuss the beauty of your nails, the health of your nails and the hidden dangers with nail salons.

If you follow some of the guidelines below you wont make a mistake when choosing a salon that is right for you:

Cleanliness is queen

  • First let’s address the danger that can be involved in receiving a manicure or pedicure at a nail salon. It really comes down to sanitary standards and how well they are observed. Maintaining the highest level of sanitary standards is the key to not only your peace of mind but after a service has been performed, you will not have an infection or any sort of fungus. Unfortunately, not all beauty salons pay enough attention to sterility, endangering the health of their clients. It is completely appropriate to ask the salon manager or owner what means are used to disinfect and sterilize any products used in manicure or pedicure services. It is always important to make sure that a nail tech is using clean and sanitized nail tools for work, that the space is regularly cleaned, and any pedicure stations or bowls have proper cleaning methods in place.

  • Unfortunately, any salon using poor practices will not come out and tell you. You must pay attention to the details that may tip you off. Most of these are obviously but still necessary to mention, pay attention to:

  • Overall cleanliness of the space

  • Are there liners in the pedicure bowl or after someone finishes a pedicure did someone go over to clean it right away. Pedicure bowls if untreated are one of the easiest ways to get more than beautiful nails from a salon.

  • Watch where the tools come from. All manicure and pedicure tools should be sanitized and heat treated. Do you see nail techs placing the tools separately from the other sets they have? Every client should be given a fresh set of tools, nail files and anything that will be used during a service. Best practice is to have a sealed set of tools that were heat treated and did not get opened until a service.

  • Reusing nail files is bad practice. Any bacteria or funguses that a previous client had on there nails can easily be transferred to the surface and grit of the files. They are especially notorious for keeping particles in them.

The beauty

  • Experience -it is easier than ever to find out what you can expect your nails look like after you finish a service with a nail tech or salon. Their Instagram, website or a friend should be able to show you how amazing your nails will look after your visit

  • The products – which type they offer are very important for multiple reasons. How many colors do they have available, nail art supplies, the tools that are used.

  • What type of manicure – today nails have been brought to an entirely new level. There are traditional manicures and then there are Russian manicures. A lot of this comes down to personal preference of what you prefer. Traditional manicures are performed with nippers or scissors to remove the cuticle. A Russian manicure is a specialized process to remove existing product and cuticle with a specialized nail drill.

The environment

  • This all comes down to personal preference. They key here is to ask yourself do I feel comfortable here? This can look different for everyone but we all know the small touches of a salon are what can make it special.

  • The work of a nail master takes time, you should be comfortable and cozy in the salon during the procedures. In fact, this is a great opportunity to relax and unwind while someone "conjures" the beauty of your hands. Maybe over a cup of coffee, chatting with your tech or in silence because you just want to unwind.

Don’t doubt that you can find a salon that would best meet the above.
